A fantastic beachside resort/hotel! Reasonably priced, great location far enough away from the noise of the beach parties, but still walking distance to the action. Staff are all attentive and friendly, the restaurant would be its only weakness in terms of its efficiency. Great beachside cabanas though, and good thai food. Stayed in a two bedroom duplex; rooms were fantastic and shared a staircase leading down to a family/lounge room which is very nice!
Would definitely return to this hotel, I even extended my stay here this last trip for an extra two nights.
Thanks Muang Kulaypan!

This is a wonderful hotel. A very good value for money. This is not your average 5 star big hotel, if you are looking for that this is not the place. This is a warm, welcoming and small hotel with the best setup one can ask. From every angle you see the sea, the huts (sala) on the beach are just amazing, the rooms and food are good up to very good in certain aspects, the swimming pool is great and you can find good promotions with the price throughout the year. I recommend dearly.

Accommodation and facilities:
Good points were the excellent grounds, good service and small number of rooms which gave it a nice ambience. It also had a unique dining/breakfast area on the beach. It was good to see that, unlike most of Koh Samui the owners have not tried to build out the area with the maximum number of rooms/shops etc. However the not so good points were the rooms apparently recently refurbished in nouveau decrepit style, noisy airconditioning, mozzies, smallish pool and lunatics letting fireworks off on the beach.

No problems-I got a rebate after I had checked in so that part couldn t have been better

We stayed in the hotel with infant 1,5 years old in superiours rooms.
Bad things:
- hotel is not convinent for young active baby, because stairs very croud and do not secure for small babies
- air con system is too noisy and very strong even in lowest mode
- no buffet breakfast (menu breakfast only)
Good things:
- very friendly staff
- very good swim pool
- hotel gave us possibility to stayed in two interconnected rooms what was very convienent for big families with babies
- really boutique hotel
I would reccomend it for honeymoon or for couple without small babies.
Reservation service:

Accommodation and facilities:
The hotel was quite all right and since there was availability they upgraded our room since we were there for honeymoon. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing that we were not satisfied was the breakfast. For a four star hotel there should be a buffet breakfast but there wasn t. They serve breakfast to the tables and it was really insufficient for us so we had to add something to our own breakfast everyday. The location was good and we enjoyed our stay.We had a very early check in and we had a late flight at 18 pm and they also provided us the room till 5 pm and it was free and a late check out.
Reservation service:
It was very good and smooth.Better than I expected.

KOH SAMUI!!
I would say, this is my second returning to Kulaypan. I had been there 9 years ago, The Hotel still keep a very good services, quite, clean and white sand!. However, the sea is not good for swim on this season, there was not clean and clear water.
All of Hotel staffs is nice and willing to serve. I would like to recommended anyone who want to stay at the quite but in style, Also, you can walk from hotel along Chawaeng street for all entertain/food/shopping as door steps.
Reservation service:
I did all arrangement on-line included air ticket (from airline web service), A reservation on line is quite easy and effective, systematic. You never worry anything.!

The Setting: A touch of nature,
situated on Koh Samui Is north Chaweng Beach, renowned as the most picturesque
in Thailand with its powder-fine white sand and crystal clear waters,
Muang Kulaypan Hotel harbors a 100-meter beach frontage, revealing a
fabulous view of the sea and offshore islands.
The Design
is inspired by a tale of Indonesian folklore introduced to
Thailand during the Ayudhaya period and translated into the Thai language
many years later by King Rama II.
As a matter of fact, the historic
Thai kingdom of Srivijaya was substantially influenced by the Javanese
and enjoyed their powerful sovereignty in Southern Thailand for centuries.
The Javanese tale of Inao is the legend of
the romance of Prince Inao and Princess Budsaba set in the ancient city
of Muang Kulaypan where this exotic love story unfolded. The designer
of the hotel, profoundly inspired by the tale of Inao, has
created a unique architectural style blending Zen form with Southern
Siam and the life style reminiscent of its people.
The large, central garden lends a palatial atmosphere
fitting the inspiration while terraces and walkways are dotted with
sculptures and aged bonsai trees alongside custom furnishings designed
by the architect M.L. Archava Varavana.

Kulaypan - The city of Inao: In the reign of King Boromakot of the Ayudhya period, Princess Kunton
and Princess Mongkut were fascinated by a story told them by their Javanese
governess about charming Prince Inao (Inu Panyee Karatapati) of the
Indonesian Shailendra dynasty (807A.D.), a great lover as well as a
valiant warrior. From this time on the legend became a well-known dance
drama in the Royal Thai court until the reign of King Chulalongkorn.
Rama V. Chaochom Manda Khian, the mother of my great
grandfather (H.R.H. Prince Naradhip son of King Mongkut), and niece
of Queen Somanat, was renowned for playing the role of Inao. In these
times it was royal practice that when a prince was born, King Mongkut
would lay a little sword as a gift in the baby is basket. For the birth
of Prince Naradhip, the king added a dagger or kris as a special
present for the Son of Inao. When I was asked upon to design
a hotel on Chaweng beach, Samui Island; realizing fully well myself
that the southern part of Thailand was once a territory in the Sri Vijaya
Kingdom, Kulaypan - the name of the capital city in the story of Inao,
sprang immediately to my mind. Falling in love with the location was
a delight from the first moment.
Through the coconut grove before me is a view all the
way to the horizon... waves dancing on a shimmering sea, a small isle
and the endless blue sky. Beauty, natural in form. Perfect light and
color. I decided straightaway that we could never spoil such a truly
wonderful vista. The view is ever marvelous: at dawn, the break of day,
late morning and towards noon, in the afternoon and twilight, or even
late at night you will find the indescribably beautiful seascape and
heavens changing their charms with time, your spirit and your dreams.
Come and be enchanted day and night at Muang Kulaypan.
