Mango Bay Grand Resort, Koh Tao, Mango Bay This is a tough comment to write. We have friends who have stayed here and loved it. We had read the comments and decided to book for 4 nights...
...we left after 1.
Apparently locals don t go here during this time of year because of the weather. When there are large waves, longtails can not operate and one has to travel on a very bad road (they are trying to concrete some of the road at the moment).
We eventually arrived and had many steep steps to walk...
We were so disappointed.
The jetty was torn up because of the waves, it was a bit dangerous getting to the restaurant, it looked slightly chaotic, sand bags and building material everywhere, you cant snorkel either (waves very big), no tv, no longtails to get anywhere.
I honestly don t like complaining, but we didn t feel like we were getting what we payed for.
What I would like to add is that the owner is a good guy, he was understanding. He drove us and others to town for free. I am sure Mango Bay can be great, we were just there at the wrong time.
Maybe the hotel should try to compensate with other activities during the rougher seasons. |
The Resort and Your site cooperated for cancellation, thank you... |

Utopia Suites, Koh Tao, Mae Haad Where to begin!!! Rooms had no power all three days we were there. It would randomly shut off anytime anyone on the second floor turned on the AC. On the first night, we were lounging in what we thought was the lobby, but ended up getting up getting hassled by Tick, the western property owner about how we weren t giving him any business. We ve traveled all over Asia for the past two months and my 4 other friends and I have to say that this is the worst place we have ever stayed. Not only is it over priced, the staff wasn t friendly, and the rooms are far below adequate. Clean, but very basic. I highly suggest for anyone not to stay here! |
Booking was not a problem. |

Koh Tao Resort, Koh Tao, Chalok Baan Kao I don t think it was worth the money. we stayed in the new paradise section on the hill. The pool and dining area were both very nice and gave good views, but the walls of the bedrooms are paper thin, and you can hear lots of noise throughout the night. the lower section of the resort which is on the beach, is a little dated, and the beach is not very nice, as it is more of a bay with lots of boats. the ladies who work on the main reception could do with some training on customer service!! |
very good |

Utopia Suites, Koh Tao, Mae Haad The hotel is very close to the pier. Unless you have alot of luggage, dont let the taxi drivers con you into them driving you because you can just walk out of the building at the pier and turn right and it is a couple minute walk.
The hotel itself is basic, but clean. The a/c worked and the water eventually got hot. The best part of the hotel is the ownership (European owned) and mngmt. I felt they were very honest and you will feel at home there.
Honestly the best place to be on the island is Sairee beach, but I have no complaints about this hotel. |

Mango Bay Grand Resort, Koh Tao, Mango Bay Ko Tao was an incredible disappointment, primarily for two reasons, 1: the weather was just horrible and 2: Mango Bay Grand Resort. The first was unavoidable it seems and I d suggest that another time of year could be more enjoyable weather-wise. Mango Bay Grand Resort did not make it any better. Nothing was done to make our stay enjoyable. The owner was obnoxious and unaccomodating. Mango Bay Grand Resort resembled a ruined paradise construction site, partly due to weather damage suggesting opening on December 20th was mistaken. I believe that the owner was aware of this but didn t care. No electricity for most of the waking hours, poorly-stocked kitchen and bar, over-priced food, complete and utter desert island feel as it inaccessible most of the time due to the weather leaving you with nothing to do. Mango Bay Grand Resort was anything but grand. I would not recommend supporting this resort. |

Mango Bay Grand Resort, Koh Tao, Mango Bay We stayed in the ocean view room which was fantastic. The restaurant/deck is also great and the whole bay is very beautiful. Unfortunately the place is difficult to get to, we got dropped off on a dirt road but had hotel staff help us carry luggage. Taxi boats are an option but only when the weather is good. There s no real beach and getting into and out of the sea from the makeshift pier can be pretty danderous. Italian owner was friendly and helpful and has big plans to add on. Will be an amazing place in the near future. Staff were excellent. |
